Dinner Time Rudeness

As technology has gotten better and cheaper, it seems that almost everyone has a cell phone, many of them are smart phones. However as people use there phones it seems that they have forgotten their manners in public and with other people.

One might ask what is meant by that comment no I will explain in some detail with the following story to help demonstrate my point.

The other night I went out t dinner with my family as we were setting down to and looking at the menus, I saw both my brother and sister had there cell phones out under the table texting people and checking their Facebook. I luckily was not the only one to notice this, my dad noticed it and told them several times during dinner to put the phones away.

Our table was not the only one with this problem, as I looked around the room I saw many people at tables not talking to each other because they were on their phones. As I looked around I started to realize the problem that people are so addicted to their phones that they cannot go long without checking them.

I started to wonder if it would have just been better to leave our phones at home or in the car. But I would hate to have to suggest that just so we could have a nice family dinner.

I know I have been guilty of this behavior in the past checking my phone while I'm out eating with friends, but over the times I have noticed the problem in my self and have worked hard to change my ways. I've I ask what is so important that your phone has to be in your hand while your trying to enjoy family time? For the most part I would not have a new message in a few minutes of eating dinner or being in the company with friends,

Next time your out with people be kind show some manors and try to avoid looking at your phone. There is a reason you decided to go out with the person so show some respect. You can always tell others you are going out and will not be able to answer for a while or explain it to them after wards. Remember to think before you pick up that phone.

New Years Resolution

So with every New Year come many new ideas in people’s minds as resolutions. Many people create there New Years resolutions and work hard to accomplish them, whether its reading X amount of books, or losing weight, and much more. My New Year resolution this year is a little different from what I know most people chose, I have decided to work on writing one blog post a week, and I will be doing a picture of the week too.

The weekly blog post will be posted at http://joshb86.blogspot.com/. I would like to do a daily blog post but I don’t believe I will have the time to write that much, which is why I chose once a week. I have decided to work on this because I have done blog posts in the past but after some time I just stop writing. Choosing weekly blog posts as a New Years resolution will hopefully keep me writing the posts. Some of the post will be random thoughts like this one, and other post will have a journalistic style to it.

The weekly picture will be posted at http://nanook86.tumblr.com/. This is something that I have wanted to do for some time now, and well I have finally decided to work on it. Again I would love to do a daily post but I don’t think I will have the time for that and that would be a lot of pictures. Most of the pictures will be ones from my phone and some from other types of cameras.

I do hope to post more then once a week for each and some weeks I will hopefully have multiple posts, but I will stick to at least once a week. I hope you guys enjoy them and always love to see feedback so that I can improve on things. Thank You All, well see how this New Years resolution go.

November 2nd Election

So today is November 2nd the big election day. It's very important that everyone goes out there and vote. We have a lot of big decisions on this ballet that will effect our future. Because of that I urge all people out there to get out and vote, i don't care who or what u support I just want you to get out there to the polls. Someone said to me that voting is one of the biggest and most important things we can do as Americans, and it's our right to do that. This is how the voice of the people are heard.

For those of you who don't care about voting or won't vote, then I don't want to hear about it later from you. I'm tired of people who complain about the U.S. Government and how they hate what's going on in Washington, but yet they did not vote in the elections. If you don't vote in the elections then you have no right to complain about what is going on in our government.

So get out and vote!

Boxer and Feinstein at CSUN

Yesterday Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer came to California State University Northridge, for a Democratic support rally. As I got to the event I had to find a way in because I did not know that I had to preregister for the event, I was told about it by my Journalism Teacher. He wanted us to go to the event to cover it and write a article about it for extra credit. After some time I was able to get in wearing a CSUN shirt they wanted me to be on stage behind where the speakers will be. However after some time on the stage I was able to slip away and get into the audience so that I could actually pay more attention to what is being said and be able to take notes on the event.

When I got in there one thing I noticed was they had everyone inside the event on there phones calling people to see who they were supporting in the election trying to get more support for Boxer. I found this to be very interesting. I also found it interesting because while on stage before I left it there were telling everyone what to do and how to act also teaching them the signals of when to cheer and other reactions. I found this part interesting because I was always told that it was done, but I had never experienced it in person until now.

The rest of the event was a typical rally, with much cheering as Boxer and Feinstein would enter the building, leaving the building, and during the speeches. You also had what seemed like the typical speeches about what they supported and did not support and about Boxers opposition supported and did not supported. You also had a lot of what someone would call trash talking, so much just like you get every year during on election its becoming hard to know what is true and not true, which is typical for elections. The other think Boxer talked about was a call to arms or well a call to have those who support her to go out and vote, to get everyone they new to vote, to tell all to vote during this very important elections.

I found this event to be interesting being that this was the first time I had gone to something like this. I have seen them on the television in the past but it is defiantly different in person. Now I have to go back actually writing the article for my class.

My one note from this, is no matter who you support during this election you need to get out and vote this Tuesday November 2nd its a very important election for our future.
